2000 and 1999 Red Burgundies (Mar 2002)

Deep red. Pungent aromas of wild berries, minerals, mint and bitter chocolate. Dense and thick but not overly sweet, with the wine strong minerality and firm acidity lifting the flavors but also contributing to the impression of tightness. Wonderfully aromatic in the mouth, even at this early stage. Finishes with slow-mounting but inexorable flavor and terrific grip.
