2003 Barolo: Ten Years Later (Jun 2014)

The 2003 Barolo Riserva Vignolo brings together the dark, intense fruit of the vintage along with floral and spiced notes typical of this site that provide a much needed sense of aromatic lift. The 2003 is just beginning to enter its tertiary phase, while the dehydration of the year is felt in the wine’s power and depth. As is often the case in warmer years, the Vignolo is a touch fresher and more energetic than the San Giuseppe, although it doesn’t have that wine’s pure explosiveness.
