2005 and 2004 Red Burgundies (Mar 2007)

Palish medium red. Dusty, spicy aromas of strawberry, pepper and iron. Smooth and spicy in the mouth, with a distinctly juicy freshness and a firm spine. Nicely primary for the vintage but with a supple texture. This is the cuvee that Montille referred to last year as girlie wine, his father’s description for today’s more pliant and fruit-driven Domaine de Montille wines, which are far more user-friendly than the lean, austere, high-acid wines that Hubert made a generation ago.
