2007 and 2006 Red Burgundies (Mar 2009)

Full ruby-red color. Black fruits, game and licorice on the nose, with a whiff of violet. Fatter, suppler and sweeter than the foregoing premier crus, in a more gentle, charming style. This seems a bit more evolved than the Lavaux and perhaps suited for drinking before that wine. But this is still a sizable wine with plenty of ripe tannins. Dugat considers Charmes to be a relatively delicate cru and thus vinifies mostly destemmed fruit.
