2008 and 2007 Red Burgundies (Mar 2010)

Palish medium red. Less fruity and more soil-inflected nose hints at earth and smoke. Tighter and less forthcoming than the Echezeaux, with structure currently dominating underlying fruit. This has a tighter grain to it, and more inner-mouth energy. A firm edge of acidity and a solid tannic spine gives this wine some cellaring potential. But this one, too, shares the decadent quality of the foregoing 2007s at this address.
