2010 Red Burgundies (Jan 2012)

(two-thirds Mazoyeres): Complex nose melds dark raspberry, licorice, coffee, mocha and underbrush. At once sweet and energetic, with strong acidity nicely buffered by the wine’s silky texture. Terroir-driven wine with good stuffing and substantial ripe tannins. (The rather masculine, powerful Cazetiers was quite reduced, not to mention hardened by CO2, and was impossible to assess.)
