2011 Red Burgundies (Jan 2013)

Bright deep red. Ripe, smoky, nuanced aromas of musky raspberry, licorice, mint and game. Rich, silky and sweet, with nicely integrated acidity giving shape to the broad middle palate. No excess weight here but sweeter and richer than the Mazis. Deep, fine-grained tannins dust the tongue on the vibrant, long back end. This fruit was picked at 13.1% potential alcohol and chaptalized to 13.5%.
