2014 Red Burgundies: Delicious Terroir-Driven Midweights (Mar 2017)

Good medium red; not crystal-clear. Deep red berry and spice aromas are at once a bit medicinal and liqueur-like, with a note of woodsmoke adding another dimension. A distinctly creamy, even thick 2014 but with menthol and mineral lift to its tart red berry and red cherry fruit. Finishes with big, dusty, ripe tannins and lovely mineral length. This very concentrated, deep Chambolle wine boasts terrific fruit and inner-mouth energy but will need time in bottle to absorb its sweet oak. Strong musky soil tones throughout.
