2018 Burgundy: Confounded Expectations (Jan 2020)

The 2018 Meursault Villages comes from several different parcels from around the appellation, including the Porusot that was previously bottled separately. It has an attractive nose of beeswax and honeysuckle aromas, plus a touch of buttered toast in the background. The palate is well balanced with nicely judged acidity and plenty of finely-tuned tropical fruit laced with elderflower, though I would have liked more mineralité to show through on the finish. A decent, commercially-driven Meursault.
