A Century of…Fives (Jun 2025)

The 2015 Volnay Les Champans 1er Cru takes time to find its feet, but it does with aeration, delivering black plum, redcurrant, touches of melted tar and just a dab of peppermint. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, more on the riper style for Champans due to the hot July and, as such, just missing the precision of other vintages. I might actually afford this another two or three years in bottle.
