A Test Of Greatness: 2009 Bordeaux Ten Years On (March 2019)

The 2009 Giscours has an intense black cherry, plum, boysenberry and crushed violet scents bouquet, a little disjointed at first but it coalesces nicely with aeration. The palate is very sweet and plush on the entry with hints of brown sugar infusing the black fruit. A lot of structure and extract here with a grippy, assertive finish. It needs time in the glass – brutish at the moment but it should mellow with bottle age. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.
