A Test Of Greatness: 2009 Bordeaux Ten Years On (March 2019)

The 2009 Clos Fourtet has a high toned bouquet with a lifted wine gum note, perhaps not quite as complex or as terroir expressive as some of its peers. This is certainly more backward. The palate is medium-bodied with rather toasty black fruit, black pepper and light smoky notes. There is something a little sullen about this Clos Fourtet. It may require another four or five years in bottle. Tasted at BI Wines & Spirits’ annual Ten Year On tasting.
