A Test Of Greatness: 2009 Bordeaux Ten Years On (March 2019)

The 2009 Pavie-Macquin has a very high-toned and slightly volatile bouquet that detracts from its classiness compared to the Figeac. The palate is sweet on the entry with a lot of extracted tannin, rather ostentatious. It seems too showy on the finish. Enjoyable, but it lacks the class of more recent vintages. This is a strange showing. Tasted at BI Wines & Spirits’ annual Ten Year On tasting.
