A Vintage with Issues: Burgundy 2021 (Oct 2025)

The 2021 Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru has quite an elegant, natural, refined bouquet: red berry fruit, briar and light sous-bois scents, well-integrated oak and fine delineation. The palate is nicely defined with a touch of sweet-and-sour fruit on the entry. Chalky tannins are slightly bitter, with a bit of attenuation on the finish. Hopefully, it will fill out with further time in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
