Back to Burgfest: 2017 Reds – Blind (Jan 2022)

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has an overtly menthol-scented bouquet that I find distracting. It recedes with aeration, but it’s still there. The palate is sweet and succulent on the entry, very reduced, and slightly green around the edges. This is a sweet-and-sour Amoureuses that feels like two wines in one, and consequently it lacks a bit of harmony and focus. The bottle I tasted at the domaine showed better, so it will be interesting to see how this develops. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
