Bordeaux 2009: The Best Ever? (May 2010)

Inky purple. Perfumed nose combines kirsch, licorice and violet with a pungent dusty minerality. Firm yet silky on entry, with densely packed red plum, blueberry, cedar and graphite flavors. The tannins saturate the entire mouth without coming off as hard or dry. The rising finish shows more cedar along with a hint of shoe polish. One of my four samples was strangely underripe/overripe, and another lighter but very elegant.
