Bordeaux 2012: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (May 2013)

(a blend of 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc; 14% alcohol; 56% selection for the grand vin): Medium ruby-red. Initially bound-up on the nose, but a whiff of oak blew off to reveal spicy aromas of dark cherry, musky blackberry and coffee. Then more blackberry, coffee and cocoa on the simple, clean palate. Begins fairly dry but finishes sweeter and more supple, with moderate length. This 6.1-hectare vineyard is situated between Trotanoy and Latour a Pomerol across the road in the lower Clinet sector of the Pomerol appellation.
