Brunello di Montalcino 2007 and 2006 Riserva (Jul 2012)

Bright medium red. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, mocha, herbs, licorice, cola and nutty oak, with a rose petal nuance emerging with air. Supple and pliant in the mouth, with harmonious acidity framing the flavors of red berries, licorice and spices. Not especially complex but offers good intensity and lift. Some tart acidity and dusty tannins contribute to a slight medicinal character of the finish, which hints at dark plum. This wine says 15% alcohol on the label but I never would have guessed it.
