Burgundy With A Bit of Age: 2000-2014 (May 2019)

My second bottle of 2013 Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères in 12 months confirms the quality of this wine. There is that signature trait of white chocolate on the nose, flanked by aromas of white flowers and maybe heightened marine-like notes less noticeable on the previous bottle. The palate is imbued with exquisite balance, more saline then I recall and suggesting an element of botrytised fruit that contrasts with what feels like a malic/steely finish. So much energy here – a complex and thoroughly engaging wine from Jean-François. Tasted at Le Bristor de l’Hôtel in Beaune.
