Exploring the Best of Central and Southern Italy (June 2011)

The 2007 Irpinia Aglianico Terra d’Eclano boasts gorgeous inner sweetness and perfume without abandoning a true expression of varietal character. Freshly cut roses, flowers, spices, ash, game and plums are just some of the naunces that flow from this pedigreed red. Ripe, silky tannins round out the textured, expressive finish. The tannins could use another year or two to soften, but there is no escaping the quality of what is in the glass. I especially like the fatness and richness of the fruit. This is a fabulous effort from Luigi Moio.
