Focus on Barolo and Barbaresco (Nov 1998)

Good full fresh red. Sweet aromas of candied dark berries and mint. Very concentrated, but firm rather than fat thanks to lively acids. Flavors are cool and youthful. A distinctive, classy wine that already shows a lot of finesse. The firm tannins build as the wine opens in the glass. This seems more sharply focused than the ’93, which I slightly overrated two years ago.
