Focus on Barolo and Barbaresco (Nov 2002)

Brick-red. Aromas of plum, strawberry, raspberry, dried flowers and marzipan. Sweet and silky on entry, then youthfully brisk in the middle, with nicely integrated acids keeping the fruit under wraps today. Not a particularly large-scaled Barolo but perfumed, round and nicely balanced, with solid structure. Finishes long, subtle and sweet, with suaver tannins than the Santo Stefano di Perno or Bricco bottlings. This has turned out well.
