“G” Acte 1 to 8 (Jul 2019)

The maiden 2009 Acte 1 is lucid and quite deep in colour. The bouquet is still youthful with an equal mixture of red and black fruit, blackberry, raspberry and bing cherry that develop with time. It is pleasing, though not complex. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip on the entry. I admire the savoury aspect of this Acte, now very pliable with age. Oddly there is something almost South African about the finish, a subtle jarring bitterness, a little confit due to the warmth of that summer. Not bad, although I would have liked a little more flesh given the growing season. Tasted at the Acte vertical in London.
