Herding Cats: Burgfest 2020 – The Reds (Oct 2024)

The 2020 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, crushed stone and a hint of pencil box. It is nicely focused and has well-integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly slender entry and light grip. A keen line of acidity and fine-boned tannins redeems it. Dark berry fruit laced with Earl Grey and bay leaf gently fans out towards the finish. This is a discrete Corton that will age deceptively well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
