Herding Cats: Burgfest 2020 – The Reds (Oct 2024)

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a more savory bouquet than de Vogüé’s, perhaps just a touch of whole bunches imparting more earthy/bell pepper character. Fine delineation becomes a little toasty with time in the glass, and the oak regime becomes a tad vocal. The palate is balanced with supple tannins, more red fruit than de Vogüé, and a keen line of acidity. The oak is a bit pronounced here, and the finish that attenuates is dried out, but only very slightly. Nitpicking here. It’s a wine finding its own feet, but there’s huge potential. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
