La Lumière Noire: 2019 Burgundy – Côte de Beaune (Dec 2020)

The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru was one of the cuvées that just flirted with overripeness on a nose that lacked the precision of some of Bouchard’s other crus. The quality is found on the medium-bodied palate: well defined, with a saline entry, and lightly spiced, displaying fine detail on the dark berry finish. Not bad overall – just a bit… chunky?
