Margaux Focus 1: Château Durfort-Vivens (Aug 2023)

The 2004 Durfort-Vivens is a respectable performance and outflanks both the 2006 and 2008. There are attractive scents on the well-defined nose: brambly red fruit, briar, slightly tertiary in style and yet more expressive and animated than other vintages. The palate is conservative in keeping with the vintage style, with slightly dry tannins and a pleasant bitterness on the finish that keeps it on edge. Fine, but drink in the near future. Tasted at the Durfort-Vivens dinner at Portland restaurant.
