Pages in the Photo Album: Vieux Château Certan 1928-2013 (Mar 2022)

The 1967 Vieux Château Certan is a vintage that I had not tasted previously, a well-regarded one for Pomerol. Maybe because of the vintage reputation, I was a little underwhelmed by this showing. Attractive nose, though it is missing the intensity of Petrus and La Fleur-Pétrus from this season. An odd Turkish Delight aroma emerges with time. The palate feels just a little fatigued by the passing years with some drying tannins and a bit of volatility creeping in towards the finish. I wonder if there are better bottles out there? Tasted at the Vieux Château Certan dinner at La Trompette.
