Red Burgundy ’16 & ’15: Superb Vintages, Different Styles (Jan 2018)

Bright, moderately saturated red. Very ripe but lively aromas of black cherry, licorice and wild herbs. Boasts surprising texture and depth for its appellation, as well as very good energy and inner-mouth lift. In contrast to my experience in many other cellars, this fresh ’15 did not come across as obviously higher in alcohol following the ’16s. Dusts the palate and spreads out nicely on the back end. This wine really has clearly benefited from the added concentration of the vintage.
