Red Burgundy ’16 & ’15: Superb Vintages, Different Styles (Jan 2018)

Medium red. Musky aromas of redcurrant, dried flowers, underbrush, menthol and licorice. Plush, silky and deep if a touch youthfully reduced, with its red berry, spice and earth flavors enlivened by savory minerality. A seriously mouthfilling, fine-grained wine with the stuffing and structure for a graceful evolution in bottle. A year ago, this wine was tighter than the Pommard Rugiens but today it’s showing its volume. Finishes with substantial ripe, dusty tannins and excellent salty persistence.
