Some Great Reward: South Africa (Aug 2018)

The 2016 Fairview Homtini was matured for 16 months in 70% French and 30% American oak barrels (20% new French oak). It has a seductive bouquet of red currant, wild strawberry and just a touch of truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, good body and depth, with plenty of black fruit. The finish is laced with pain d’épice and white pepper, lending it an almost Rhône-like allure. This is a very commendable, sophisticated Homtini from winemaker Anthony de Jager.
