Squares & Circles: Bordeaux ‘10 At Ten (Apr 2020)

The 2010 Troplong-Mondot clearly shows some sur-maturité on the nose with overt tinned prune and dates on the nose, pleasant but rather simple and monolithic. The palate is medium-bodied with very ripe and succulent tannins, a modern and voluptuous style of Troplong that is dichotomous to today’s more reserved, leaner style. Good length and gentle in terms of grip, but this bottle lacks the class and pedigree of the other bottle tasted blind. I wonder how much variation exists intra-bottle? Tasted at the BI Wines & Spirits 10-Year On tasting.
