Test of Endurance: Bordeaux 2014 Ten Years On (Mar 2024)

The 2014 Giscours has a composed bouquet with black cherries, violet and light forest floor scents. The oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshier than its peers, though it doesn’t have the acidity to maintain sufficient freshness. This feels a bit chewy on the finish, as if trying too hard. It was a perplexing showing as it showed far better six years ago. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.
