The 2014 White Burgundies: What’s Not To Like? (Sep 2016)

Pale, bright yellow. Aromas of yellow fruits, honey and white flowers plus notes of anise and menthol. Wonderfully broad, dense and ripe, with strong iodiney minerality; conveys a touch of sucrosité but doesn’t have quite the grip or nuance of the Clos Saint-Marc. Turns distinctly austere on the back end, finishing with a touch of youthful bitterness and a suggestion of almond paste. This very backward wine is best on the nose today.
