The Good, Bad and Ugly: Burgundy 2010, 2003 & 2004 (Jun 2020)

The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes from Etienne Sauzet has an attractive bouquet featuring scents of lemon curd and orange pith behind the crushed stone aromas, although it does not quite deliver the same precision as Leflaive’s Combette. The palate is well balanced with just a touch of reduction on the entry and a fine bead of acidity. Quite saline in the mouth, although it needs a tad more length. Overall, a fine Combettes, but I might just afford it another couple of years in bottle. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2010 white burgundy tasting in London.
