The Marital Margaux: d’Issan 1945-2015 (Jul 2018)

The 1983 d’Issan has quite a pale appearance for what was a reputed Margaux vintage. The palate offers light red cherry, undergrowth and sandalwood aromas that suggest it has become rather fatigued in recent years. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannin; grippy in the mouth though it is pinched on the finish, powdered cocoa and tobacco lingering on the aftertaste. I would have expected a little more considering the vintage. Tasted at the d’Issan vertical held at the property.
