Through the Other Side: Burgundy 2016 in Bottle (Oct 2019)

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Alea 1er Cru has a very elegant and refined bouquet with lifted brambly fruit and a touch of sous-bois. Very typical Trapet style. The palate is medium-bodied with a citric opening, nicely balanced even if it is missing some substance towards the open-knit finish. Understated, I suspect that it will drink well over the next 8 to 10 years. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
