Through the Other Side: Burgundy 2016 in Bottle (Oct 2019)

The 2016 Corton-Grancey Grand Cru is deeper in colour than its peers with blackberry and raspberry fruit, hints of mulch-like undergrowth and wilted violets. This is quite complex, even if it misses a little joie-de-vivre. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, a fine bead of acidity, quite precise and classy towards the finish that shows impressive integration of oak and substance. This is a well crafted, very typical Corton that should age with style. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
