Through the Other Side: Burgundy 2016 in Bottle (Oct 2019)

The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru is endowed with slightly darker fruit than its peers, hints of black tea and iodine complementing the blackberry and mulberry scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity, quite succulent in the mouth. Perhaps the finish is missing the same degree of terroir expression of its peers, it expresses more the winemaking style. Still, it is an attractive wine, albeit not a cerebral one. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
