Treasures of Italy’s Southern Adriatic and Ionian Coasts (Jul 2021)

There’s no mistaking the masses of pure, mineral-laden, musky Aglianico del Vulture fruit that wafts up from the 2018 Titolo. It’s dark, with violet florals and smoke smoldering in the glass. The silky and pliant textures within wash a polished wave of mineral-tinged black fruits and savory exotic spices across the palate with ease, propelled by zesty acidity. Grippy tannins emerge, yet the mouth waters as a salty flourish lingers, along with hints of licorice and lavender. The 2018 won’t be the longest-lived vintage of Titolo, but this beauty will excel easily through medium-term cellaring.
