Tuscany Part 1: Chianti, Vino Nobile and Supertuscans (Sep 2014)

(80% sangiovese with 20% merlot and malvasia nera): Bright medium red-ruby. Pretty aromas of dark cherry, violet, coffee and sexy spices. Suave and fine-grained, with pliant black and red berry and floral flavors nicely framed by harmonious acidity. The firmly structured finish features lingering notes of dark plum, redcurrant and sexy oak, along with mounting, slightly tough tannins and a very strong earthy note. Cellar this for at least five years to allow it to smooth out.
