Vertical Tasting of Domaine de Chevalier Rouge (Apr 2013)

(65% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot and 5% cabernet franc; 12.5% alcohol): Amber-tinged red. Strong notes of torrefaction dominate the delicate red cherry, herb and smoky forest floor aromas. Sweet and rich on entry, with lively acidity framing the red cherry and forest floor flavors. I like this wine’s mouthwatering juiciness and chewy texture; it lacks only a little complexity and length for a higher score. Though drinking well now, it has a long life ahead of it.
