Chianti Classico and Beyond – New Releases (Sep 2014)

A rush of intense blue and black stone fruits, tobacco, smoke, licorice, spices and new leather hits the palate in the 2010 Flaccianello. A wine of considerable immediacy and intensity, the 2010 captivates all the senses with its magnificent richness and pure texture. There is so much to like here.

The 2009 Clarets (Jul 2012)

Bright red-ruby. Wild meaty nose lifted by a floral element. Sweet, fine-grained and fairly generous in the mouth, with plenty of baby fat to its dark fruit flavors. But ultimately a wine of moderate richness and concentration. The persistent but slightly dry-edged finish shows a sweet/sour quality.

Opaque inky purple. Aromas of blueberry, sweet plum and chocolate pudding are complicated by hints of wet earth and animal fur. Enters sweet and ripe, but shows very good grip and inner-palate energy to its black fruit and herbal flavors. The 2001 Red Burgundies at Age 15 (Apr 2017)

Healthy medium red. Musky wild raspberry, coffee and Cuban cigar tobacco on the nose and palate. Suave and velvety but with terrific energy and retention of red fruit flavor.
