The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2003)

Good full red-ruby. Rich, mellow aromas of currant, plum, mocha and oak. Dense, seamless and deep, with burnished plum and tobacco flavors enlivened by very good vinosity. Lush, suave wine, finishing with sneaky length.

Vertical Tasting of Chateau Lynch-Bages (Jan 2012)

71% cabernet sauvignon, 16% merlot, 11% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot; 5.5 g/l total acidity; 13.3% alcohol): Deep ruby-red. Though powerful and rich, with a…

The Future’s Definitely Not What It Was: Bordeaux 2018 (Mar 2021)

Bordeaux 2018: Not Back in Black (Mar 2021)

The 2018 Le Petit Cheval Bordeaux Blanc is bright and finely cut, with pretty citrus, sage, mint and floral notes. Airy and beautifully lifted, the 2018 is a gorgeous dry white to drink now and over the next handful of years.

2004 and 2003 Rhone Valley Wines (Jan 2006)

Dark red color. Intensely spicy and rich on the nose, with vibrant aromas of kirsch, raspberry, wild strawberry, anise and fresh rose. Amazingly concentrated, juicy and pure in the mouth, with compelling, energetic flavors of dark raspberry, cherry preserves, poached rhubarb and rose pastille. The minerally finish, which features completely buffered tannins, builds inexorably and…

2010 Barolo: Flying High Again, Part 2 (Sep 2014)

Gagliardo’s 2006 Barolo Riserva Preve is heavy, oxidized and tannic, with little in the way of appeal or charm. Unfortunately there is no upside from holding bottles further.
