1998, 1997 and 1996 Bordeaux (May 1999)

Deep ruby-red. Plum and roasted nuts on the nose. Large-scaled, vinous and deep; thick fruit is given clarity by sound acidity. Very long and subtle on the finish, with serious but harmonious tannins. An outstanding second label, as good as most classified growths from St. Julien.

Best New Releases from Australia (Jul 1999)

Deep ruby. Port-like aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, dark chocolate, cigar box, leather, minerals, cedar and herbs; became fresher and more perfumed with aeration. Powerful and penetrating; the thick, extremely concentrated fruit seems as deep as it is wide. From vines reportedly 130 years of age! Finishes with explosive fruit that coats the entire…

On the palate, silky textures play host to ripe red and black fruits, laced with savory herbs, hints of olive, and saline-minerals. The finish is long and…

Made from 35 years old plus vines aged two years in 75% new oak barriques, this will prove an outstanding wine if properly cellared for another eight to ten…

The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli has a dark, hauntingly beautiful bouquet, displaying ripe blackberry and cherry with spicy, dark florals, as well as a hint of animal musk, which manages to ground the experience in the earth. On the palate, velvety textures, offset by tart red and black fruits, with juicy acidity maintain balance,…
