2016 Brunello di Montalcino: Radiance Personified (Nov 2020)

The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino shows a mix of woodland berries and herbs before adding further depths of flowery undergrowth and smoky nuance. It’s silky-smooth, complemented by polished red/black fruits, while savory spices and notes of sour citrus slowly penetrate. Hints of licorice and mint linger, along with a coating of fine tannins on the…

2016 Brunello di Montalcino: Radiance Personified (Nov 2020)

The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino from La Magia keeps you coming back to the glass, displaying musky cherries dusted in shavings of cedar and pine, with hints of candied orange in the mix. It’s silky in feel with sweet red fruits and spices further accentuated by vibrant acids. Fine tannins come forward through the close;…

Omne Trium Perfectum: Bordeaux 2019s in Bottle (Feb 2022)

The 2019 Rocheyron has a gorgeous bouquet of red berry fruit and rose petals, hints of freshly tilled loam coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied, perfectly balanced, poised and harmonious, with seamlessly integrated oak, the Cabernet Franc lending freshness and a hint of bell pepper on the finish. Superb.

2019 Bordeaux from Bottle: The Two Towers (Feb 2022)

The 2019 Rocheyron is certainly a solid wine, but my expectations are a bit more than that for this wine from Silvio Denz and Peter Sisseck. Ripe dark fruit, chocolate and sweet spice are nicely pushed forward, but there's not much depth nor complexity.
