Vintage Champagne (Dec 2014)

(a 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir): Light yellow-gold. Bright, mineral-accented scents of fresh orange, Anjou pear and jasmine, with a toasty leesy nuance coming up slowly. Shows excellent clarity and lift on the palate, offering juicy tangerine and pear flavors and hints of anise, redcurrant and honeysuckle. Clings with strong tenacity on the…

The 2019 Champagne Summer Preview (Jul 2019)

The 1996 R.D. (2007 disgorgement) is, not surprisingly, more advanced than the 2012 disgorgement tasted alongside. Orange peel, hazelnut and coffee overtones all flesh out in an ample, full-bodied R.D. that is fully mature. The 2019 Champagne Summer Preview (Jul 2019)

The 1996 R.D. (2012 disgorgement) is in a gorgeous spot right now. A stunning set of aromas and flavors have developed in bottle, making the 1996 a real treat to taste and drink at this stage. Scents of coffee, hazelnut, honey, dried flowers, menthol and candied orange peel all lift from the glass. Mature and…

An endless parade…

New Releases from Australia, Part 1 (Jul 2007)

Ruby-red. Initially closed on the nose but aeration brings a complicated bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry, creme de mure, sexy oak spices, woodsmoke, tobacco, vanilla and fresh flowers. A deep, sweet but precise midweight, with energetic flavors of red and dark berries, cherry compote, cinnamon, mocha and smoked meat, all wrapped in substantial but silky…

Dance the Quickstep: Burgundy 2020 (Dec 2021)

The 2020 Le Corton Grand Cru has a perfumed nose with red berry fruit, orange zest and a touch of white pepper. The palate is smooth on the entry, quite dense black fruit laced with black pepper that leads to quite a dense finish that will require some bottle age.
