2007 and 2006 Red Burgundies (Mar 2009)

Medium red. Vinous aromas of redcurrant and tobacco. Round on the palate, with a slightly roasted cherry flavor lifted by an element of minerality. A fairly voluminous and solid wine, finishing with fine, dusty tannins.

Focus on the Tuscan Coast (Sep 2010)

(14.5% alcohol) Good, moderately saturated ruby. Sexy aromas of blackberry, plum and chocolatey oak are lifted by an enticing violet note. Sweet, lush and fine-grained, with a peppery blackberry flavor complicated by saline and coffee elements. At once juicier and deeper, displaying terrific flavor intensity and inner-mouth perfume but kept tight…

Focus on Sauternes (Jul 1998)

Straw-gold color. Deep aromas of acacia honey, brown butter, oak spice and mint. Quite sweet but only moderately thick; shows a resiny oaky quality in the mouth. Seems a bit monolithic today and lacking in nuance; I don’t get the typical lift and class of the cru. Honeyed, slightly alcoholic finish, with the viscosity building…
