The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2004)

Good red-ruby color. Sexy, highly aromatic nose combines black raspberry, licorice, mint, minerals and flowers. Classy, bright Pauillac, with suave dark berry and mineral flavors nicely shaped by firm acidity. Offers early sex appeal but has the structure for a long life in bottle. Finishes with ripe, spreading tannins and excellent grip and length.

The Best New Wines from Spain, Part 1 (Jul 2008)

Deep ruby. Intensely perfumed aromas of smoky cherry and cured meat, complemented by vanillin oak, baking spices and dried rose. Chewy red berry and cherry flavors are firmed by dusty tannins and given lift by a jolt of tangy minerality. Picks up bitter cherry skin and pit on the long, refreshingly juicy finish. No way…

2007 and 2006 White Burgundies (Sep 2008)

Aromas of white peach and crushed stone. Sweet, dense and powerful, with strong minerality giving it a strong sappy quality. The ripeness here is almost exotic, and yet this very sweet, long wine comes off as young today. I’d wait four years. 2007 and 2006 Red Burgundies (Mar 2009)

Saturated red-ruby color. Pure, vibrant nose features smoky black cherry. Rich, sweet and pure, with superb energy to the flavors of black and red cherry and minerals. Impressively dense, broad wine, finishing with excellent lingering perfume and solid spine for aging. In comparison to this wine, the 2005 version seems a bit easier.

The Annual Red Bordeaux Report (May 2005)

(a blend of 80% merlot and 20% cabernets franc and sauvignon) Good red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry, licorice, iron and coffee. Moderately dense and plump in the mouth, with flavors of dark fruits, coffee, smoke, minerals and oak. Finishes with substantial, slightly dusty tannins and very good length. Late notes of chocolate and coffee liqueur. A…

2003 and 2002 Red Burgundies (Mar 2005)

Bright, full red. Raspberry, wild strawberry, minerals and nutty oak on the nose. Fat, sweet and red fruit-driven; more open today than the Charmois. A ripe, full, well-stuffed village wine, finishing with a fine dusting of tannins.
