The 2009 Clarets (Jul 2012)

Bright, medium ruby-red. Aromas of black raspberry, smoked meat, licorice and herbs. Ripe and serious for a second wine, offering nicely concentrated, lively flavors of currant, dark raspberry, spices, herbs and licorice. Finishes with plenty of dusty tannins and very good grip and verve.

Châteauneuf du Pape: The Lively 2013s and Lush 2012s (Apr 2015)

Vivid red. Expansive spice- and mineral-accented aromas of ripe black raspberry and blueberry, along with white pepper and woodsmoke nuances. Stains the palate with intense red and dark berry flavors, showing a suave blend of power and vivacity, with juicy acidity adding lift and bite. Supple tannins give shape and clarity to the long, spicy,…

Six Decades of Pavie-Macquin: 1928-2018 (May 2020)

The 2003 Pavie-Macquin is marked by elevated ripeness and aggressive tannins. There is plenty of initial depth and intensity, but it's hard to get past the candied fruit profile and the other signatures of the torrid growing season.

Vertical Tasting of Chateau Pavie Macquin (Mar 2014)

(14.9% alcohol; 3.57 acidity): Dark ruby-red. Sexy aromas of ripe blackberry, blueberry pie, woodsmoke, vanilla and flinty minerals. Then big, rich and suave in the mouth, with concentrated flavors of ripe dark and red cherry, blackcurrant, truffle and cocoa. The long finish features a licorice quality and smooth tannins. The cool limestone soils of Pavie…
